Samsung set to debut bendy 5.5-inch OLED displays at CES 2013

Samsung’s much talked about flexible OLED displays will apparently be making an appearance at CES 2013.

CES Attendees will get to see a beautiful 5.5-inch screen which would be intended for smartphones, this size is probably more geared for the Note 2 varieties of phones, with a 1280×720 pixel resolution at 720p and with a 267ppi pixel density, reports Android Central.

Recent reports have suggested that this new OLED setup could appearing inside Samsung’s upcoming Galaxy S4, which is expected to launch at some point in either late Q1 or early Q2 2013.

The display that’s set to debut at CES 2013 is a 5.5-inch one, as well as a 55-inch HDTV. If true, it could very well be the same one that’ll eventually be put to use inside the Galaxy Note 3.

Just don’t go expecting a bendy phone, even if it is packing a flexible OLED panel. Morphing phones are still quite a way off, although the advent of display technology like this should really help to move things along.

It does open the door for more shapely handsets, however – something that’s desperately needed in today’s smartphone space. Everything is starting to look very similar indeed.

Perhaps flexible OLED displays will inject some much-needed diversity into the phone arena?
